About Cash Friendly Town Wales
Cash Friendly Town Wales is a grassroots campaign supporting the freedom to pay with cash in shops, cafés, services and public spaces across Wales. We believe that payment choice is a right — not a privilege — and that removing the option to use cash risks excluding the most vulnerable in our communities.
From older adults who feel more comfortable using cash, to those without access to bank accounts or reliable internet, millions still rely on physical money. As digital payments become more widespread, we work to ensure cash remains a viable and respected option.
What we do
- We promote businesses that accept cash through our website and window stickers
- We raise awareness about the importance of payment choice
- We collaborate with local authorities, trade groups and communities
- We encourage dialogue between businesses and customers
Why we care
Going cashless may seem like a sign of progress — but without proper safeguards, it can lead to exclusion, increased costs and loss of privacy. Our mission is to promote a balanced, inclusive economy where everyone can participate, regardless of how they choose to pay.
This project is run by volunteers who care about access, fairness and community resilience. We welcome support from individuals, traders and organisations across Wales who believe that cash still matters.
